About Heatha
As a former Art Director & Graphic Designer for over 25 years, I decided to find my way back into the fine art world, of that I had once admired.
I love design, the conceptual process and consider myself an unbridled thinker who approaches everything like it’s the first time. I view life’s challenges and uncertain times, as an opportunity to embrace change. It’s a chance to open up my perspective, to grow and to evolve. Stirring up internal energies, so that they can be expressed creatively.
Always an artist, I started learning marketing and design within the advertising studio during my teenage years. I quickly grew into art direction at ad agencies and then started freelancing, helping businesses in Detroit and Chicago grow by developing their branding and marketing.
I have always had a deep rooted passion for typography. Learning how to render each letter by hand in college, helped me to form a relationship with each part of the letter - it’s lines, curves, ascenders, descenders…serifs. After some experimenting with playful juxtapositions of type, I then explored rendering the designs in paintings, while adding transparent glossy pours to bring it all together. The baseline was established and I learned that while my passion for design is built from understanding the details first, my yoga practice has taught me that the most powerful ideas come from simple human truths and experiences.
